Best Swim with FISH Ever!

Swim with FISH 2012 was the Best swim to date with near 100 people in attendance, 15 one mile swimmers and about 8 kid swimmers!  There was plenty of food, live music and we raised $1327 for the Gig Harbor FISH food bank! Not to mention a huge bucket full of food! The tee shirts were the nicest to date incorporating our number 6 day marker icon in the design.

*Two times were taken for each swimmer.The first time was when swimmer stopped swimming. The second time was when they touched or passed by the cone. While Jeremy stopped swimming before Daniel, Daniel went for the cone and touched it first.

Paddling for Pints

In case you were wondering, we did Paddle for Pints this year.  August 5 after the neighborhood breakfast about 6 paddlers and pedalers made their way to the Tides. This was accomplished by traveling down our shoreline down the shores of Colvos Passage to Harbor entrance via person powered boats. Below are a couple of photos proving that we didn't just "drive" to the Tides.

Stick Contest Held on Beach

The inaugural summer stick contest ended in a three way tie. Local children were said to have spent "hours" trying to find the longest stick but when they held them all up to compare sticks were miraculously the same length.  Unfortunately the photographer cut the top of the sticks off in the photo so we will never know for sure how the sticks compared!  Photo provided by Andrew.

Cornball a Hit on our Beach!

The game Cornbag was introduced here recently on Brower beach. Neighbors and friends from all around have come to join in the fun.  We hope we will see you tossing the cornbag into the cornhole soon!

Giant Hermit Crab found off Beach!

During a routine dive on our beach this giant hermit crab was found at a depth of 15-20 feet, under.  The diver reported seeing several other large hermit crabs along with red rock crabs, golf balls, and buoy anchors. 

Cat Uses Advanced Tactics on Local Birds

This cat was recently caught in the act of raiding a local bird house.  It seems that the warmer weather has inspired this cat to use an advanced approach in the age old pursuit of the bird. Photo was provided by Cristina Roe.
