PADDLING FOR PINTS; Only a TEST!
Just in case you were wondering... a small group of volunteers, and I stress that these were strictly "volunteers," did a test paddle to Gig Harbor on August 17 2010. This " test" consisted of paddling or pedaling a kayak or stand up board from our beach all the way to Gig Harbor non-stop. After the first 4.5 miles pint paddlers did require a break, being forced to stop in at Tides Tavern for re-hydration and other nourishment. Comments like "this beer is really good" and "we should do this every day" were heard around the table. The group continued floating West and found themselves offshore while The Coats, a Seattle based Capella group, performed at Skansie Park All but one that set out on this test paddle were able to complete the journey - more on that later! This journey ended at the Gig Harbor public boat launch where a kayak trailer awaited man powered boaters for drive back home.
As for the other paddling adventure, I'm sure that Jack S. will be happy to explain his accidental night time journey that apparently took him.. elsewhere.
If anybody else has ever dreamed of attempting a similar journey talk to Donna, Cristina, Leslie, Joyce, Steve, or or Jack about their experience.
Would you like to paddle for pints? You can do it too! Ask about when the next pod leaves for the harbor!
PS Since no one has provided Photos you'll just have to imagine what the journey was like on that calm and clear 80 degrees day.
